The protest comes amid conflicting police findings, suspended officers, and the state government’s request for a CBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding the medical aspirant’s death in Bihar.

A fresh round of protests over the death of a NEET aspirant from Bihar reached the national capital, with the student’s parents joining demonstrators at Jantar Mantar to press for justice and accountability.
The victim’s father said the family had exhausted all options in Bihar, leaving them with no choice but to protest in Delhi.

“If we had received justice in Bihar, why would we have come to Delhi? I will keep fighting until my last breath to ensure justice for my daughter,” he said.
Her mother also questioned the lack of action in the state, saying, “If we had received justice in Bihar, why would we have come to Delhi? I want justice for my daughter.”
According to police officials, the student died while undergoing medical treatment in Patna. In the days following her death, allegations of sexual assault emerged.
However, the police have maintained that medical professionals have not confirmed sexual or penetrative assault in their findings.
The issue has drawn political attention, with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stating on Jan 31 that the Nitish Kumar-led state government had urged the central government to transfer the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Tensions had earlier escalated in Patna when parents gathered outside the hostel where the student lived, accusing the management of failing to cooperate with investigators. They also claimed that the atmosphere of fear after the incident prevented students from returning to their studies.
In a separate development, Patna Police suspended two officers linked to the case. Those placed under suspension were Roshni Kumari, the station house officer of Chitragupta Nagar police station, and Hemant Jha, the additional station house officer of Kadamkuan police station. Police said the action was taken due to delays in response and lapses in intelligence gathering.
A police press release had earlier disclosed forensic findings, stating, “During the examination conducted by the FSL, traces of human sperm were found on an undergarment allegedly worn by the deceased at the time of the incident. A DNA profile is being prepared from this sample.”
Authorities said the DNA evidence will be compared with samples from the arrested accused and other suspects identified by the Special Investigation Team to establish further details in the case.
