They currently represent 40% of worldwide internet users and play a significant role in global ICT products (30%) and digitally deliverable services (11%).
The growth of BRICS has boosted its global share of exports and internet users.
The group currently constitutes 45.2% of the global population, 36.7% of worldwide GDP, and 23.3% of international merchandise trade.
Consequently, digital collaboration has emerged as an essential element of the BRICS agenda.
India's Involvement
India presented its flagship Sanchar Saathi program designed to safeguard mobile users against fraud, improve transparency, and guarantee fair access to mobile services.
India and Brazil showcased their national strategies for cyber resilience through presentations.
India introduced AADHAAR as a fundamental Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) that has transformed public service delivery via identity-based digital inclusion.
China likewise provided information about its digital infrastructure development.
India launched the ambitious Sangam Digital Twin project, designed to utilize AI-native, federated platforms for scenario-centric infrastructure planning and real-time governance solutions.
China shared its insights on Digital Twin technology as well.
Significance
BRICS has prioritized the cohesive execution of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, concentrating on its economic, social, and environmental aspects.
Digital technologies are regarded as vital instruments for fostering inclusive growth and fulfilling the SDGs.
BRICS acknowledges the importance of the internet and ICTs in promoting e-governance, financial inclusion, service provision, and global collaborations.
Technologies like AI and big data are particularly esteemed for their capacity for growth.
Agritech and digital farming are primary areas of focus.
It recognizes the contribution of digital solutions to enhancing agricultural productivity and increasing farmer incomes.
