Global Summit on Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure 2025
It unites governments, organizations, institutions, the media, and infrastructure stakeholders to enhance the international dialogue on disaster and climate-resilient infrastructure.

It is taking place in Europe for the first time ever.
It is in accordance with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) in Geneva, and the third U.N. Oceans Conference (UNOC3).
The theme, ‘Crafting a Resilient Future for Coastal Areas,’ emphasizes the susceptibility of coastal regions and islands to climate change and natural disasters.
Recent occurrences such as Cyclone Remal in India and Bangladesh, Hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean, Typhoon Yagi in Southeast Asia, Hurricane Helene in the U.S., Typhoon Usagi in the Philippines, and Cyclone Chido in regions of Africa.
These calamities resulted in harm to both lives and property.
Main Aspects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on India's past disaster experiences, including the 1999 super-cyclone and the 2004 tsunami, highlighting the advancements made in creating cyclone shelters and establishing a tsunami warning system.
He commended the efforts of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) in collaboration with 25 Small Island Developing States and appreciated the engagement of the African Union.
He identified five main priorities: incorporating disaster resilience into education, establishing a worldwide digital archive of best practices, guaranteeing innovative financing for developing countries, assisting Small Island Developing States, and enhancing early warning systems.

Coalition for Infrastructure Resilience in Disasters (CIRD)
– It was initiated in 2019 by the Government of India with the backing of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
– It is a worldwide collaboration involving governments, UN organizations, development banks, the private sector, and academic institutions.
