The District Child Protection Unit issued event organizers the notice mandating that children must not be used in the performance under any circumstances or allowed entry without ear protection.

British rock band Coldplay, which is set to perform at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Jan 25, has been issued a notice by the District Child Protection Unit that strictly prohibits the use of children on stage during the much-anticipated concert.
The organizers of the event have also been directed to not allow entry to any children inside the venue of the concert without earplugs or adequate hearing protection. The Unit warned the organizers about the sound levels. The sound level, if exceeds 120 decibels will result in harmful damage to children’s health, and hence, the organizers have to maintain the level, according to the news agency ANI.

The child protection body also made the concert venue aware that if the venue fails to follow any such rule, it will result in strict actions taken by the Child Protection Unit. This particular notice was issued after the complaint was filed by Pandit Rao Dharnevar, Assistant Professor of Sociology in Chandigarh.
While expressing his concerns, Dharnevar said the exceeding level of sound or bright lights may result in physical and mental developmental issues in children. He emphasized his commitment to taking similar steps to safeguard children’s rights in the future, as certain songs make uncivilized and barbaric impressions on the minds of young children.
Before Coldplay’s concert, he even filed a complaint against Punjabi singer and performer Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘DIL-LUMINATI’ tour’s Grand Finale in Ludhiana.
This complaint led to the Deputy Director of the Women and Children Department, Government of Punjab, taking action by issuing a formal notice to Ludhiana’s District Commissioner, earnestly persuading them to ask the singer to not perform certain songs in the concert on New Year’s Eve, which led to banning his songs.
The songs that promoted alcohol were banned, including ‘5 Tara Theke’, ‘Patiala Pegg’, and ‘Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya)’, even if their lyrics were altered.
