The chargesheet submitted to a special court in Kolkata does not include gangrape charges suggesting that Roy committed the crime alone.

Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the rape-murder case of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College Kolkata was arrested on Aug 10.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Oct 7 filed a charge sheet against Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata last month, ruling out the possibility of gang rape.
According to the probe agency’s chargesheet, Roy, who was working as a civic volunteer with the local police, raped and murdered a 31-year-old woman doctor alone on Aug 9.

The incident occurred when the victim rested in the hospital's seminar room during a break. The charge sheet submitted to a special court in Kolkata does not include gangrape charges suggesting that Roy committed the crime alone, officials said.
However, the premier agency has kept the investigation open for further developments. Roy initially confessed to the crime after being arrested on Aug 10. However, he denied it during the polygraph test days later, claiming he was being framed and was innocent.
Roy, 33, was arrested by the Kolkata Police a day after the body of a postgraduate trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College.
A Bluetooth device found near the victim’s body led to Roy's arrest. CCTV footage also showed him on the hospital's third floor, where the seminar hall is situated.
The accused was reportedly close to a few senior Kolkata Police officers. The CBI told the Supreme Court earlier that the crime scene was altered by the time it took over the probe, which suggests there was an attempt by the local police to cover up the crime.
Following widespread agitation against the gruesome incident, the Calcutta High Court on Aug 13 ordered the transfer of the probe from the Kolkata Police to the CBI.
