Heated exchanges during the general house meeting saw BJP councillors accuse the city mayor of misconduct, sparking a first fight involving members of the Congress-AAP alliance and BJP.

A heated confrontation erupted during the monthly general house meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, involving councillors from the Congress-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alliance and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The session descended into chaos after BJP members accused the city Mayor of orchestrating the removal of sand from the Dhanas area.

The allegations prompted Congress-AAP councillors to storm the well of the house, brandishing a poster featuring Anil Masih, a nominated councillor, while chanting "Vote Chor, Vote Chor" (Vote Thief).
Amid the uproar, a scuffle broke out between Congress councillor Gurpreet Singh and BJP councillor Kuljeet Singh Sandhu, as Sandhu attempted to seize the poster from Singh. The situation quickly escalated, creating a tense and disorderly atmosphere.
Recognizing the need to defuse the tension, city Mayor Kuldeep Kumar intervened and announced a break in the proceedings. The meeting resumed later, though the earlier discord highlighted the deep divisions within the house.
The incident underscores the ongoing political strife within the municipal corporation, with members locked in contentious disputes that have disrupted deliberations.
