The Delhi High Court is poised to issue a ruling regarding the petition of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is presently detained on charges related to an alleged excise policy scandal. The verdict is expected to be announced by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma at 2:30 p.m. on the designated day.
Kejriwal's legal challenge extends beyond his initial arrest to include his subsequent custody under the Enforcement Directorate and his ongoing detention at Tihar jail. The Chief Minister has raised concerns about the arrest's timing, suggesting it violates fundamental democratic values and the equitable nature of elections as enshrined in the Constitution.

In response, the Enforcement Directorate has argued against the notion of Kejriwal's immunity from arrest due to the impending elections, maintaining that the law applies uniformly to all individuals.
The arrest, which took place on March 21 following the high court's decision not to intervene against the Enforcement Directorate's actions, led to Kejriwal's transfer to judicial custody on April 1. The case involves accusations of malpractice and money laundering in the development and implementation of the now-defunct excise policy of the Delhi government for the fiscal year 2021-22.
