Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Rahul Gandhi to file nomination papers from Wayanad constituency today

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is set to file his nomination papers on Wednesday from Wayanad constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. 

Rahul had won the seat in Lok Sabha elections 2029 with a great margin of four lakh votes. 
He will arrive by helicopter at Muppainad, a village here, and will travel by road till Kalpetta, the party said.

Congress MP will also hold a roadshow where party general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal, Kerala Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan, KPCC acting president M.M. Hassan, and senior party leader Ramesh Chennithala will accompany him.

The polling for Wayanad constituency will be held in phase 2 on April 26.

Lok Sabha polls Campaigning for the upcoming general elections is in full swing and all the political parties have geared up for the elections. 

On Tuesday, PM Modi held public rallies in Uttarakhand's Rudrapur and Rajasthan's Kotputli. He attacked Rahul Gandhi’s remark suggesting that there will be a "conflagration" in the country if he gets a third term.

He asked people to wipe out the Congress from everywhere. Modi also raked up 50-year-old Kachchatheevu island issue. Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK President MK Stalin slammed the BJP for raising the Kachchatheevu issue ahead of the the Lok Sabha polls and said that the issue has started to backfire now.

Polling for the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases, the first of which is on April 19. The Election Commission of India has also announced Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Odisha, as well as assembly by-polls for 26 vacant seats.

The counting of votes will be done on June 4.
