Arguing in parliament that the App undermines India's sovereignty by refusing to acknowledge Arunachal Pradesh as part of the country, Gowaal K Padavi urged the Ministry of External Affairs to take up the matter with China.

Congress Lok Sabha MP Gowaal K Padavi on March 11 demanded a ban on the Chinese AI app DeepSeek, alleging that it undermines India's sovereignty by refusing to acknowledge Arunachal Pradesh as part of the country.
He also urged the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to take up the matter with China.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Padavi, who represents Maharashtra, highlighted that when asked about Tibet, the app categorically stated that the region had always been under China's control. However, when queried about Indian states like Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, DeepSeek provided detailed confirmations of their status within India.
"But when asked whether Arunachal Pradesh is part of India, the app refused to give a clear answer and instead responded with, 'Sorry, it is beyond my current scope, let's talk about something else.' Such evasive responses from foreign technology have no place in India and should be banned," Padavi asserted.
He called for strict action against the app and emphasized the need for India to develop its own AI technology instead of relying on American or Chinese platforms.
Padavi’s demand comes amid growing concerns over the use of foreign AI tools in government systems. Last month, the Indian government issued a directive barring officials from using AI applications like ChatGPT and DeepSeek on office computers and devices, citing risks to data confidentiality.
Other issues raised in Lok Sabha
During Zero Hour, BJP MP and actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut raised concerns about frequent power cuts in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. She urged the Power Ministry and the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board to strengthen power distribution networks and ensure 100% electrification in the state.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav pressed for the reinstatement of the old pension scheme for government employees. He argued that many employees were dissatisfied with the new unified pension scheme set to be implemented from April 1.
With growing calls for action on multiple fronts, the Lok Sabha saw an animated discussion on pressing national issues.
