At the 80th UN General Assembly, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded Hamas lay down arms, vowed to conclude its mission in Gaza, and called on the world to free captive Israelis amid disruptions from multiple delegations walking out.

At the United Nations General Assembly on Sep 26 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a forceful address demanding that Hamas surrender and release hostages, declaring that Israel must “finish the job in Gaza.” His speech took place amid visible protests, as delegates from over 50 nations walked out in objection.
Netanyahu, wearing a QR-code lapel badge linking to Israel’s account of the Oct 7 Hamas attack, hailed Israel’s military operations in Gaza as “one of the most stunning military comebacks in history.”

He affirmed that the struggle is not over, warning that Hamas intends to repeat its atrocities if not decisively defeated.
To the families of hostages, Netanyahu said, “Let my people go,” “Free the hostages,” and “If you do, you will live; if you don’t, Israel will hunt you down.”
He asserted that Israel will not falter until every captive is brought home.
He also took credit for Israeli and US efforts targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, key Hamas leaders, Houthi forces, and Iranian scientists, while accusing others of silent support for terror. He pressed the UN Security Council to reimpose sanctions on Iran to limit its regional influence.
During Netanyahu’s address, many delegations staged walkouts in protest. More than 100 diplomats from over 50 countries left the hall at various points, signaling deep global opposition to Israel’s policies in Gaza.
These protestors criticized the timing, content, and tone of his remarks.
Netanyahu also criticized leaders who, he claimed, in private praise Israel’s intelligence efforts but publicly condemn it. “Israel is fighting your fight,” he said, urging moral support for its actions.
The speech underscored Israel’s intent to continue military operations in Gaza despite international pressure. Observers highlighted the speech’s dual purpose: rally domestic support while defying diplomatic isolation during one of Israel’s most contentious periods.
