Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed world leaders at the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada, on June 17, emphasising India’s growing role on the global stage and urging deeper collaboration on key issues.
His remarks came during the G7 Outreach session—the first time an Indian premier has participated in such a forum at this level.

Modi called for unified global action against terrorism, underscoring the importance of shared efforts to counter extremist ideologies.
He also stressed the need for enhanced climate commitment, highlighting the vulnerability of developing nations to environmental changes and urging wealthy countries to take the lead in mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
On economic cooperation, Modi praised Canada’s leadership in hosting the Summit and expressed India's readiness to work with G7 economies on energy security, space technology, clean energy, critical minerals, and fertilizers—areas he described as once-in-a-generation opportunities for joint growth.
Modi’s presence marked a diplomatic milestone—his sixth consecutive G7 appearance—reflecting India’s increasing integration into high-level discussions shaping global policy.
Moreover, he and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced plans to appoint new high commissioners, a step towards repairing diplomatic relations strained since 2023.
