Crackdown deepens as anti-terror agency detains key associates in the high-profile car bombing near Red Fort

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested four additional individuals in connection with the 10 November car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, intensifying its probe into what is emerging as a multilayered conspiracy. According to investigators, all four are believed to be close associates of Umar Un Nabi, the prime accused and alleged mastermind behind the explosion.

The latest arrests include three doctors and a religious preacher, indicating that the network behind the explosion may have included highly educated individuals who could provide both technical expertise and ideological reinforcement. The involvement of medical professionals has raised questions about radicalisation pathways and the misuse of professional knowledge for subversive activities.

The NIA’s early investigation suggests that the accused may have been involved in tasks ranging from logistical coordination to recruitment and possibly arranging materials used in the low-intensity blast. The agency is also examining whether the group had links to any organised terror module or if the attack was part of a locally planned radical act inspired by extremist content.
The arrests carry major security and counter-terror implications:
The NIA is now analysing digital footprints, communication records, and financial transactions to establish the extent of collaboration. As the probe widens, authorities are focused on uncovering any external support systems, sleeper-cell involvement, or cross-border ideological influences that may have played a role.
The incident has renewed calls for robust counter-radicalisation strategies, improved urban security frameworks, and constant vigilance against evolving terror threats in India’s metropolitan hubs.
