An announcement from the government has confirmed the imminent launch of 'Sahkar Taxi', a ride-hailing service that operates on a cooperative model, with the primary goal of benefiting drivers directly

Sahkar Taxi: What is it?
Drivers can keep all of their earnings from Sahkar Taxi, a government-backed cooperative ride-hailing service, without any deductions from middlemen. Although it functions through cooperative societies, it takes inspiration from app-based platforms like Ola and Uber.

Why is it required?
Platform exploitation: Ola and Uber have come under fire for their exorbitant commission fees and opaque pricing schemes.
Consumer Issues: Concerns about equity and transparency have been raised by claims of unfair pricing practices that are based on the type of device used (iPhone versus Android).
Driver Welfare: Because app management is centralized, many drivers face low pay and little bargaining power.
Relevance:
Empowerment: Enhances income stability by facilitating driver ownership through cooperative models.
Decentralization: Promotes local economic activity in accordance with the "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cooperation) principle.
In contrast to profit-driven aggregator platforms, the alternative model offers a sustainable and inclusive choice.
Customer trust: Promotes accountability and increases pricing transparency in digital service platforms.
