Harnessing the sun from both sides, India’s first vertical bi-facial solar plant rises in Okhla! Inaugurated by Manohar Lal Khattar, this space-saving marvel captures sunlight from dawn to dusk, redefining urban energy solutions with efficiency and innovation.

The ceremony was held at the 5th International Conference on Green Metro Systems - The Future of Urban Mobility.
It was organised by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) under the name of i-Metro in co-operation with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

The panels can absorb sunlight on both sides. Since the metro is elevated, it will harness the solar energy without taking any additional land.
• Switching to renewable energy, installation of solar rooftops, regenerative braking in metros etc. are some of the measures to go green.
• The innovation makes metro rail operations more sustainable and contributes to renewable energy targets.
A 1MW rooftop solar plant was set up at Khyber Pass depot. Bi-facial solar panels capture sunlight on both sides and harness metro viaducts for power generation without consuming additional land.
