Healthcare access for chronic conditions advances

Multinational pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk has expanded its obesity care initiatives in India through a strategic partnership with Emcure Pharma. The collaboration focuses on the distribution of Poviztra® (semaglutide), a clinically approved medication for medically-supervised weight management. The initiative aims to improve access to obesity treatment across urban and semi-urban regions, addressing a critical gap in chronic disease management.
India faces a rising obesity burden, with increasing prevalence in both adults and adolescents. Obesity is a key risk factor for type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic disorders. Despite growing awareness, access to advanced pharmacological interventions has been limited, especially outside major urban centers.

Novo Nordisk’s collaboration with Emcure aims to bridge this gap, combining clinical expertise, distribution networks, and patient education.
The Novo Nordisk–Emcure collaboration represents a strategic step toward improving obesity care in India, addressing a growing public health challenge through accessible, advanced, and medically supervised therapy. It underscores the importance of chronic disease management and preventive healthcare in India’s evolving health ecosystem.
