The Ministry of Education's UDISE+ 2024-25 report reveals significant deficiencies in India's school facilities, online accessibility, and teacher presence

What is it?
Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) is a yearly national data framework for school education (Grades I–XII).

It encompasses infrastructure, student enrolment, teacher numbers, training, digital preparedness, health services, and learning conditions in government, aided, and private educational institutions.
Principal Trends (2024-25):
Digital Disparity:
Only 65% of schools possess computers; merely 58% are operational.
Internet connectivity: 63% in total; government schools (58.6%) compared to private (77.1%).
Infrastructure:
Restrooms: 98.6%, Handwashing: 95.9%, Potable water: 99%.
Nevertheless, over 25,000 schools do not have functioning electricity.
Pre-registration Issues:
5.1% of schools have fewer than 10 students.
Schools with zero enrolment are prevalent in Ladakh (32.2%), Arunachal, and Uttarakhand (22%).
Deficiencies in Educators:
PTR acceptable in primary (20:1) but concerning in upper grades: Jharkhand (47:1), Maharashtra & Odisha (37:1).
RTE standard = 30:1; NEP suggests 20–25:1.
Educator Preparation:
National average approximately 91% trained.
Meghalaya has the lowest rates (72% at primary, 80% at upper-primary).
Geographical Diversity:
South (Kerala, Tamil Nadu) nearly full access to toilets, internet.
Eastern and northeastern states are falling short: West Bengal (18.6% internet), Meghalaya (26.4%).
Health Assistance:
Medical examinations conducted in merely 75.5% of schools; Bihar (32.7%), Nagaland (44.9%).
