Delhi Police issues traffic advisory amid AI summit and CBSE board exams

Delhi Police has announced traffic restrictions across central Delhi from Feb 16 to 20 for the five-day AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, with heightened security and diversions in place.

About 4,200 traffic personnel have been deployed across 10 zones, each headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Additional senior officers will supervise VVIP convoy movement. High security and controlled traffic zones will operate around Bharat Mandapam, Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, and Hyderabad House.

During VIP movement, Bhairon Marg and parts of Mathura Road will face restrictions. Traffic may also be regulated on Kartavya Path, Janpath, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, and Shanti Path.

Non-Delhi vehicles will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways. A key north-south corridor via Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Dhaula Kuan, and AIIMS will remain restriction-free. Emergency services, including ambulances, will get priority passage.

The advisory coincides with the start of CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations on Feb 17. More than 46 lakh students are appearing across India and 26 countries.

Delhi Police said it has coordinated with the Education and Transport Departments to ensure smooth access to exam centers, especially for about 10 schools located along VIP routes.

Field officers have been directed to assist students and parents and prevent delays. Candidates carrying valid admit cards or date sheets will be facilitated in regulated zones.

Police said students appearing for CBSE board examinations remain a priority, and efforts will be made to ensure they reach centers on time.

Special route advisories have also been issued for major railway stations and passengers traveling to Indira Gandhi International Airport. Metro services have been recommended to avoid congestion.

Commuters have been advised to check official traffic updates, avoid restricted stretches during peak VIP movement, and plan additional travel time.

Police said alternate corridors have been designated to minimize disruption while maintaining security arrangements.
