The four-year undergraduate course will be offered in open and distance learning mode, includes multiple exit options, and aims to build skills in textiles, design, and garment construction.

IGNOU has introduced a new BSc in Fabric and Apparel Design under its Four-Year Undergraduate Programme for the January 2026 admission cycle, expanding its offerings in design and skill-oriented education.
The program will be offered through the School of Continuing Education and delivered in the Open and Distance Learning mode.

IGNOU said the course has been structured in line with the UGC Curriculum and Credit Framework and aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.
Designed with a multiple exit option, the program allows students to receive a UG Certificate in Fabric and Apparel Design after the first year, a UG Diploma after the second year, a BSc degree after completing three years, and a BSc Honours degree upon finishing four years.
Applications for the program are currently open. The annual fee has been set at ₹11,000, excluding registration and development charges.
The course is open to candidates who have completed Class 12 with science as a compulsory stream.
Instruction will be conducted in English, and students will be assessed through annual examinations. The three-year degree requires the completion of 120 credits.
According to IGNOU, the program aims to build a strong foundation in textile science, fashion design, and garment construction, combining scientific knowledge with creative and technical training.
It is designed to prepare learners for industry-focused roles by integrating practical skills with theoretical understanding.
The university said the curriculum places emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and professional competence, enabling graduates to explore careers in the textile and apparel sector, entrepreneurship, or higher education.
Study materials will be made available in both print and digital formats to ensure access for learners across different regions.
