PVR INOX partners with TimBuckDo to roll out cinema training program

PVR INOX has partnered with student gig platform TimBuckDo to roll out a new experiential learning initiative aimed at giving college students hands-on exposure to the business and operations of cinema exhibition.

The program, called “Cine Career,” is designed to introduce students to real-world aspects of cinema operations, film distribution, and the commercial ecosystem that supports theatrical releases.

According to the company, the initiative moves film education beyond classroom-based learning by placing students inside functioning multiplexes.

Under the program, participants will work across key operational areas such as customer experience, cinema floor management, box office functions, food and beverage operations, safety procedures, and core workplace skills.

The course structure includes supervised on-ground deployment, daily evaluations, and professional certification, with the objective of improving employability across hospitality, entertainment, retail, and service sectors.

As part of the pilot phase, PVR INOX will begin the program in Bengaluru and Mysuru before expanding to other cities.

The company said the initiative allows students to see how films reach audiences, from acquisition and positioning to promotion and programming within cinemas.

PVR INOX said it is the first cinema exhibition chain in India to offer an industry-led experiential learning platform integrated with live operations.

TimBuckDo said the collaboration brings industry-grade exposure into mainstream college life by combining PVR INOX’s operational environment with its gig-based learning model.

The platform said the program helps students build discipline, communication skills, customer handling abilities, and operational awareness through live experience rather than simulated exercises.

Through Cine Career, students will track the lifecycle of a film after production, study audience behavior and box office trends, and observe how cinema teams respond to real-time operational challenges.

The program offers two formats, a four-day Foundation Track priced at ₹999 and a seven-day Advanced Track priced at ₹1499, aimed at students seeking deeper industry exposure and mentorship.

At the end of the program, participants will receive a joint TimBuckDo and PVR INOX certificate of completion, vouchers, branded merchandise, and priority consideration for internships and future roles at PVR INOX locations.

“PVR INOX has always placed strong value on building a skilled and aware talent base for the cinema business. With Cine Career, we are giving students a chance to learn inside a live PVR INOX multiplex and see how our teams work, plan, and solve real situations each day,” said Gautam Dutta, CEO Revenue and Operations, PVR INOX Ltd.

“This program will help young people understand the full process that brings a film to the big screen and the many roles that support it. We see this as an important step in opening doors for students who want a clear and practical path into the industry,” added Dutta.

Mythri Kumar, co-founder of TimBuckDo, said, “Cine Career is a powerful step forward in our mission to enhance employability for India’s youth. Students often consume cinema but rarely understand the scale, systems, and strategy behind it.”

“This isn’t just a course; it is a runway for youth to launch their careers with real experience. TimBuckDo is proud to bring Cine Career to students, giving confidence, clarity, and actual skill sets to students poised to enter the workforce,” Kumar added.

She continued, “Through this partnership with PVR INOX, we’re giving students real industry immersion, not just classroom theory. We’re excited to empower thousands of young people with skills that truly make them workplace-ready.”

The companies said enrollment is open for a limited number of seats, with registrations available through the official program portal.
