Gangster claims Sharma’s café was attacked over Salman Khan’s Netflix appearance — warns of deadly retribution for anyone working with the actor, citing the 1998 blackbuck case.

A chilling audio message from a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member has surfaced, claiming responsibility for the recent gunfire attack on comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada. The gangster warned that the venue was targeted over Sharma’s decision to invite actor Salman Khan to the show's premiere — renewing violent threats linked to the decades-old blackbuck poaching case.
The gangster, identified as Harry Boxer, declared that any artist, filmmaker, or producer working with Salman Khan “would be shot in the chest.” The voice note points to the Bollywood actor’s June 21 appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix as the trigger behind the two attacks on Sharma’s Surrey-based Kap’s Café.

“The first and now the second firing happened because Kapil Sharma invited Salman Khan,” Boxer said in the audio, adding: “Whoever works with Salman — be it a small-time actor or director—will be killed. We will go to any extent necessary.”
This marks the second shooting at the café in less than a month. On Thursday, unknown assailants unleashed at least 25 rounds at the eatery, smashing windows but causing no injuries. The first attack occurred on July 10.
International threats and fugitive links
Bishnoi gang affiliate Goldy Dhillon, who is wanted by both the Punjab Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), claimed responsibility for Thursday’s assault in a social media post. Dhillon is believed to be hiding in Germany and is accused in multiple murder and extortion cases.
Earlier, Babbar Khalsa International operative Harjit Singh Laddi — one of India’s most wanted fugitives — had claimed responsibility for the July attack. He cited alleged derogatory comments by Sharma about Nihang Sikhs as the motive.
The string of threats stems from the long-standing enmity between gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Salman Khan. Bishnoi, currently in jail, has repeatedly invoked the 1998 blackbuck poaching case—in which Khan was convicted before being granted bail—as a reason to target the actor. The blackbuck is revered by the Bishnoi community.
Mounting threats, mounting concerns
The audio recording has escalated security concerns around both Kapil Sharma and Salman Khan, reigniting fears about transnational gang activity linked to India’s underworld and extremist factions. While authorities are probing the authenticity of the audio and tightening surveillance, the message is unambiguous: the Bishnoi gang is willing to go global to settle scores.
