Delhi’s Kashish stuns Amitabh Bachchan with grit, intelligence and emotional story on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17.

The seventeenth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) may have just begun, but it has already delivered one of its most moving moments. In Wednesday’s episode, Delhi-based contestant Kashish, a young mathematics graduate, captured hearts as she played her way up to the ₹1 crore question before choosing to walk away with ₹50 lakh — enough, she said, to finally repay her father’s long-standing debt.
Sitting opposite host Amitabh Bachchan, Kashish held her ground through a series of demanding questions until she reached the crucial final hurdle: “Which king of the Visigoths demanded pepper, which ancient Rome typically traded from India, as ransom to lift a siege on the city?” The options were Ludovic, Aymeric, Alaric and Theodoric.

With only one lifeline remaining — the ‘Sanket Suchak’ earned earlier in the Super Sandook round — she struggled to narrow down the choices. Bachchan urged her not to gamble, reminding her that guesswork could cost her dearly. After a tense pause, Kashish chose the safer path, quitting the game with her assured prize money. The correct answer was Alaric.
Though she fell short of the crore, the moment was anything but a defeat. Kashish’s emotional revelation — that the winnings would free her father from debt — left the audience and even Bachchan visibly moved. “You are already a true winner,” the host told her, applauding her resolve and dignity.
KBC will return with a special Independence Day episode featuring Col Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Commander Prerna Deosthalee, who were instrumental in briefings on Operation Sindoor.
The reality quiz show airs Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony TV and streams on SonyLIV.
