Samay Raina appeared before the National Commission for Women and committed to maintain sensitivity towards women in his future content.

Comedian Samay Raina, who was mired in the controversy over his show India’s Got Latent, submitted a written apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW) on July 15 following a summons over remarks deemed disrespectful to women.
Appearing before NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, Raina expressed regret for the offending content and pledged to uphold the dignity of women in all future public communications.

The controversy stemmed from an episode featuring co-host Ranveer Allahbadia, in which certain jokes sparked widespread backlash and legal complaints across multiple states.
The NCW emphasized that public figures bear a responsibility to foster due respect and sensitivity towards women and encouraged Raina to use his platform positively. The stand-up comedian assured the Commission he would adhere to these expectations going forward.
In addition to this, Raina—along with other influencers—also appeared before the Supreme Court in a separate case examining allegations of offending persons with disabilities on the same show.
While he avoided making public comments outside court—quipping, “Whatever I have to say, I’ll say in court, not to you”—the NCW apology marks a significant step in resolving concerns related to his show’s content.
India’s Got Latent, launched in June 2024, was removed from YouTube in February after multiple FIRs were filed by police in Maharashtra and Assam over its allegedly vulgar and sexist content .
The platform and its creators have since pledged to operate within acceptable norms of respect and sensitivity.
