Children with poor sleep cycles since infancy are at a potential risk of developing psychosis in their early adulthood, according to a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
Children aged between 6 months and 7 years who persistently slept fewer hours were more than twice as likely to develop a psychotic disorder and were four times more likely to experience psychotic episodes, which can result in hallucinations.

Psychosis is a health condition that occurs due to the collection of symptoms and results in individuals losing contact with reality by directly affecting their mind. According to the US National Institute of Mental Health, individuals suffering from psychosis find it difficult to differentiate between what is real and what is not; this entirely disrupts a person's thoughts and perceptions.
The early symptoms of this health issue can be identified with a major change in behavior and people believing in things that do not exist in real life and becoming delusional. They even find it difficult to sleep properly, and they often get confused while communicating.
At times, the situation can get even worse, and patients can often try to harm themselves.
The other contributing factor to this situation can be immune system health. The data driven from the blood samples to measure inflammation levels in age 9 verifies that a week of me on system can partly clarify the link between sleep cycle and the cause of psychosis.
The good thing about this condition is that sleep patterns can be fixed, and it is just one of the many factors causing psychosis that can be easily fixed with the help of parents.
