Data from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs shows Maharashtra recorded the highest number of interns under the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, while the Finance Ministry extended the maximum offers among government departments.

The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme has seen Maharashtra emerging as the top state for participation, according to recent data presented in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon Session.
The state recorded the highest number of interns, reflecting its strong corporate and academic ecosystem.

Among government departments, the Ministry of Finance offered the highest number of internships, followed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The scheme, aimed at providing exposure and skill development opportunities to students, has also drawn significant contributions from leading public and private companies.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs revealed that top recruiters included companies from finance, technology, and manufacturing sectors.
These organizations partnered under the program to provide hands-on learning to students from various educational backgrounds.
Officials noted that the initiative has been steadily gaining traction, with more ministries and companies joining to expand opportunities for young professionals.
The scheme is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and workplace requirements, offering participants real-time industry exposure.
Launched to nurture young talent and improve employability, the internship programme is being seen as a step toward strengthening industry-academia linkages.
The latest data shows that both government ministries and corporate entities are playing a critical role in scaling the program.
