Due to disagreements over a seat-sharing formula, Congress and AAP's pre-poll coalition discussions came to an end. In partnership with the Congress, which was unwilling to provide the party with more than three or four seats, the AAP sought to run for eight or nine seats in Haryana.

The Aam Aadmi Party announced on Oct 9 that it would run an independent contest in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, one day after the results of the Haryana elections were declared.
Arvind Kejriwal's party would run in the national capital election, as per the Delhi government's past ten years of performance, said AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar.

"We will contest Delhi (assembly) elections alone. On one side it's the overconfident Congress and on the other side, it's the arrogant BJP. We will contest the election based on what we have done in Delhi in the last 10 years," Kakkar said on Oct 9.
"After the Congress' vote share went up substantially in the recent Lok Sabha elections, there is renewed enthusiasm among the workers and general public that the party will perform better in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls as people now look for change," Yadav said.
The statement follows AAP's decision to go solo in Haryana following the failure of the Congress-led seat-sharing negotiations. AAP is a member of the INDIA bloc at the central level.
Devender Yadav, the president of the Delhi Congress, declared earlier in July that the party will run independently in the next assembly elections since their alliance with the AAP was restricted to the Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress was also criticized by the AAP for its overconfidence in responding to calls for an alliance in Haryana.
