The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced that Bansuri Swaraj will contest from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat in its first list of candidates.

Bansuri Swaraj, Daughter of Sushma Swaraj, Set to Enter Electoral Politics
New Delhi: Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, is poised to make her electoral debut in the forthcoming elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has confirmed in its initial list of candidates that Ms. Swaraj will be running for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat.
Bansuri Swaraj, an accomplished lawyer, brings a wealth of legal expertise to the political stage. Last year, she was appointed as the co-convenor of the BJP Delhi's legal cell.

With a robust fifteen-year career in the legal profession, Bansuri Swaraj has been a member of the Bar Council of Delhi since 2007. After earning her undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Warwick, she pursued a law degree at the esteemed BPP Law School in London. Her academic accomplishments include qualifying as a Barrister at Law and being called to the bar from the Honorable Inn of Inner Temple, London. She further bolstered her legal qualifications by completing her Masters of Studies from St. Catherine's College at the University of Oxford.
Throughout her professional journey, Bansuri has made a name for herself in the legal field, representing high-profile clients in contentious litigation across various judicial platforms. Her areas of expertise encompass a broad range of legal matters, including contract disputes, real estate, tax, international commercial arbitrations, and criminal trials.
Bansuri Swaraj made news last year when she criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023. In a press conference in the national capital, she described the AAP government as "quarrelsome and ineffective," criticizing their perceived inefficiency since 2015. She expressed her confidence that the administration in Delhi would now operate in line with the law following the passing of the Bill by President Droupadi Murmu.
In a strategic move to gain a significant early advantage in its quest to secure 370 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP announced a list of 195 candidates today, even before the election dates have been declared. The list features the party's top leaders, including PM Narendra Modi, who will be running from Varanasi for the third time, and Home Minister Amit Shah, who will once again be nominated from Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
