Jayant Sinha, a BJP MP from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, has joined the ranks of party leaders who have chosen not to run in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. On Saturday, Sinha announced that he had asked BJP President J P Nadda to “excuse him from direct electoral responsibilities.”
In a post on social media platform X, Sinha expressed his desire to “dedicate his efforts to fighting global climate change in Bharat and globally.” He also pledged to continue collaborating with the party on economic and governance issues. The former Union Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership for the opportunities they had given him to serve the public.

In his post on X, Sinha stated, “I have been honored to serve the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past decade. I am grateful for the numerous opportunities provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership. My deepest thanks to all of them. Jai Hind!”
It is rumored that the BJP is considering nominating several new leaders, and some incumbent MPs have reportedly informed the party that they would prefer to concentrate on other organizational tasks.
Earlier in the day, Gautam Gambhir, a former cricketer and BJP MP from East Delhi, announced his retirement from politics to focus on cricket, effectively withdrawing from the race for a Lok Sabha ticket from the party. Gambhir, who was not included in the list of potential candidates proposed by the BJP’s state unit to its senior leadership, announced his decision in a post on X.
