BJP's Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union IT Minister vying for the Thiruvananthapuram seat, has disclosed assets surpassing ₹28 crore. Chandrasekhar is contending with Congress's Shashi Tharoor and CPI's Pannian Raveendran in the polls scheduled for April 26. His nomination was officially filed this past Thursday.
The affidavit accompanying his nomination details movable assets valued at ₹13.69 crore and his spouse's assets at ₹12.47 crore. These assets encompass cash, bank deposits, investments in various financial entities, and a vintage 1942 Red Indian Scout motorcycle, acquired for ₹10,000 in 1994, now part of a collection that includes jewelry and other valuables worth over ₹3.25 crore.

Chandrasekhar's immovable assets, primarily real estate, were initially purchased for ₹5.26 crore and are currently estimated at ₹14.40 crore in market value. The couple's liabilities, some of which are contested, total approximately ₹19.41 crore for Chandrasekhar and ₹1.63 crore for his spouse, predominantly comprising loans.
