Delhi Court slaps ₹10K fine on coach and awards ₹3L compensation to victim in landmark judgment for the crime committed over two months ago.

A Delhi court has sentenced a 27-year-old tennis coach to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl, one of his students.
The assault occurred during the night of March 16-17, when the coach unlawfully entered the victim's residence and attacked her while his juvenile relative acted as a lookout outside.

The girl’s parents reported the crime the following day, prompting police to swiftly register a case under sections 74, 75, and 332(c) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), in addition to Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Utilizing technical surveillance and confidential sources, law enforcement apprehended the accused shortly after the report. The chargesheet was filed within 50 days.
In a fast-tracked proceeding concluded in just 10 days, the court imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused and awarded ₹3 lakh in compensation to the victim. The juvenile accomplice has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Board.
