CBSE expands skill education framework with new teacher workshops

CBSE is set to roll out a series of capacity-building programs aimed at strengthening skill education at the middle school level, with implementation for Classes 6 to 8 beginning Feb 4, 2026.

The initiative will be managed by the Board’s Skill Education Division and is designed to equip school heads and teachers with hands-on strategies for introducing skill-based learning in classrooms.

The Board has underscored the role of these programs in improving educational quality and embedding skill education as a core element of the middle school curriculum.

Selected CBSE-affiliated schools will serve as host institutions for the workshops, which will be conducted across multiple cities during February, including Faridabad, New Delhi, Noida, Ranchi, Ghaziabad, Bengaluru, and other locations.

Training sessions will follow an activity-driven format, allowing teachers, vice principals, and principals to engage directly in day-long sessions scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

The focus will be on practical classroom application, with particular emphasis on using NCERT Kaushal Bodh textbooks to support experiential learning and interdisciplinary skill development.

CBSE has clarified that the programs are being offered free of cost, though participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Schools have been advised to inform host institutions in advance about participant requirements to ensure smooth coordination of seating, materials, and logistics.

The training is intended to create master trainers who can extend skill education practices within their schools and across regions.

The move reflects CBSE’s continued focus on skill education as a key pillar of its academic framework.

By investing in teacher training and curriculum support, the Board aims to strengthen learning outcomes at the middle school level and ensure that policy initiatives translate effectively into classroom practice.
