Zakir Husain College of Engineering Hosts Webinar on Condition Monitoring in Industry 4.0 Era

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, facilitated a webinar titled "Importance of Condition Monitoring in Industry 4.0 Era" on April 23, 2024. The event featured Er. M. Hemant Bari, a distinguished Condition Monitoring Analyst and Deputy General Manager at Adani Electricity Limited, Mumbai, as the resource person.
Er. Bari's lecture delved into the critical aspects of fault diagnosis in rotating equipment and the significance of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques. With a commendable track record in diagnosing chronic equipment problems at early stages, Er. Bari highlighted the role of condition monitoring in mitigating potential damage, minimizing downtime, and optimizing energy generation processes.

Professor M. Muzammil, Chairperson of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, warmly welcomed the esteemed guest speaker. Prof. Muzammil emphasized that the webinar served as a platform for experts to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging trends, share case studies, and explore best practices in the field. He expressed optimism that the webinar would enhance participants' understanding of machinery health monitoring and fault diagnosis techniques.
Dr. Sidra Khanam, in her vote of thanks, underscored the pivotal role of condition monitoring in the Industry 4.0 landscape. She emphasized that predictive maintenance, facilitated by continuous data gathering and advanced analytics, is paramount for improving equipment efficiency, minimizing downtime, and optimizing operational costs. Dr. Khanam highlighted the webinar's diverse audience, which included faculty members, industry experts, and students from various institutions in India and abroad, including Aasia Steel Factory (KSA), Dhofar University (Oman), and several IITs, central, and state universities.
The interactive question and answer session allowed participants to engage with the speaker, fostering knowledge exchange and collaborative learning. Dr. Sidra Khanam and Mr. Mohd Atif Jamil were pivotal in organizing the webinar, while Mr. Mohd Atif Jamil adeptly conducted the proceedings.
The webinar's success underscores the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges in industrial maintenance and monitoring, propelling the industry towards greater efficiency and sustainability in the Industry 4.0 era.
