Supreme Court Receives Applications for Senior Advocate Designation: 138 Lawyers, Including 68 AoRs, Seek Recognition

SC Receives 138 Applications for Senior Advocate Designation
In response to the Supreme Court of India's call for applications for the designation of Senior Advocates, a total of 138 lawyers have submitted their candidature. Among these applicants, 68 are Advocates-On-Record (AoRs), indicating a diverse pool of legal talent vying for the prestigious recognition.
The application process was initiated following a notice issued by the Supreme Court's Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates on March 14. Now, in the latest development, the Committee has invited suggestions from stakeholders to aid in the scrutiny and assessment of the applications.

Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their suggestions, along with verifiable material, to the Secretariat of the Committee by April 22. Suggestions can also be sent via email to [email protected].
This robust response from the legal community underscores the significance of the Senior Advocate designation and reflects the Court's commitment to recognizing legal excellence. The upcoming designations will contribute to fostering diversity and expertise within the senior ranks of the legal profession.
This initiative follows the Court's previous designation of 56 lawyers as Senior Advocates earlier this year, which included 11 women. The Court's dedication to periodic designations underscores its commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal representation and expertise.
