The program is offered in open and distance learning mode and combines theoretical instruction with mandatory practical training conducted at approved study and program centers.

Designed for working professionals, it enables nurses to continue their employment while pursuing higher academic credentials.

The duration of the program ranges from a minimum of three years to a maximum of five years. There is no upper age limit for admission.

The university has advised candidates to carefully review eligibility requirements and complete the online registration process before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.

The program is open to registered nurses and midwives who are enrolled with a State Nursing Council.

Applicants who have completed Class 12 along with a three-year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery must have at least two years of work experience after registration.

Those who have passed Class 10 and hold a three-year GNM diploma are required to have a minimum of five years of work experience after registration.

Male nurses or candidates who did not study midwifery as part of their GNM course must possess a certificate in a nursing course prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery training.

Interested candidates can apply through the official IGNOU nursing admission portal at ignounursing.samarth.edu.in by creating a new registration account using a valid email ID and mobile number.

Applicants must fill in personal, academic, and professional details; upload required documents, including educational certificates, nursing registration proof, and experience certificates; and pay the application fee online before submitting the form.

Candidates are advised to download and keep a copy of the submitted application form for future reference.

The university said the program aims to strengthen academic qualifications and improve career prospects for nursing professionals in hospitals, community health services, and administrative roles across India.
