NCERT launches AI-powered e-Magic Box app for early childhood learning

NCERT has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered e-Magic Box application aimed at strengthening early childhood education for children aged three to eight years.

The digital platform is designed for children, parents, and teachers, offering learning content supported by interactive AI-based assistance.

Officials said the initiative seeks to make foundational learning more accessible and responsive to everyday questions raised by caregivers.

The e-Magic Box functions as a digital early learning ecosystem that includes stories, songs, activities, and guided interactions. It is powered by three AI-driven bots that provide instant responses.

Katha Sakhi generates imaginative stories and creative material to encourage curiosity. Parent Tara addresses parenting-related queries and offers guidance on child development.

Teacher Tara assists educators with classroom engagement strategies to make learning more effective. Users can type questions and receive immediate AI-generated replies.

The platform promotes active adult participation in a child’s development through conversation-based and activity-based learning rather than textbook-focused instruction alone.

To widen access, the service is available through a mobile application as well as WhatsApp and Telegram.

Families without smartphones can use toll-free IVRS numbers 1800-212-0173 or 15108 to access features such as “Story of the Day," “Song of the Day," and “Question of the Day."

NCERT has also launched the “Kingdom of Learning and Learning” campaign alongside the app, encouraging families and educators to regularly engage with the digital tools.

The e-Magic Box is available free of cost as a public educational resource. It focuses on early literacy, communication, creativity, behavior, and foundational learning skills.
