The application will enable individuals to register births and deaths in their state's official language at any time and from any location, making the process smooth and hassle-free.

In an effort to "integrate technology with governance," Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Civil Registration System (CRS) smartphone application on Oct 29.
According to Shah, the application will enable individuals to register births and deaths in their state's official language, at any time and from any location, making the process smooth and hassle-free.

In a post on X, he claimed that it would drastically reduce the amount of time needed for registration.
All reported births and deaths in the nation that occur after Oct 1, 2023, must be digitally recorded on the government's website, dc.crsorgi.gov.in, according to the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023.
The digital birth certificates will serve as a single document to verify the date of birth for various purposes, including marriage registration, government employment, and admission to educational institutions.
Additionally, the centralized database will assist in updating the electoral rolls, ration cards, property registration, and the National Population Register (NPR).
Around 119 crore residents are already included in the NPR's data, which was first gathered in 2010 and updated through door-to-door enumeration in 2015. According to the Citizenship Act, the NPR is the initial stage in creating the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Additionally, Shah unveiled a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Delhi's Census Building. Shah stated that Patel laid the groundwork for a powerful India by uniting the nation.
"As a testament to his unwavering dedication to establishing democratic values in the country, this statue of the Iron Man, a symbol of struggle and sacrifice for the national interest, will continue to inspire everyone," he said.
