Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazeb, who were instrumental in the planning and execution of the Bengaluru cafe blast, were arrested near Kolkata. Taha, the brains behind the operation, evaded capture using false identities, while Shazib was responsible for placing the IED at the cafe.

Bengaluru Cafe Blast Mastermind Arrested by NIA in Kolkata
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made significant progress in the Bengaluru cafe explosion case on Friday, detaining two suspects from Kolkata. Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazeb were seized from a hideout in the vicinity of the city.
As per the NIA, Shazib was responsible for positioning the IED at the cafe, while Taha orchestrated the planning and execution of the explosion, and subsequently managed to evade law enforcement. The suspects were concealing their true identities. The operation involved the NIA, central intelligence agencies, and state police agencies from West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala.

The IED explosion at the well-known Whitefield eatery, Rameshwaram Cafe, resulted in injuries to at least 10 individuals on March 1. The NIA had previously announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the suspect in the case. The federal agency also disseminated several images of the suspect travelling on various buses in Karnataka.
