With the Vice-Presidential election slated for Sep 9, the BJP-led NDA is convening high-level meetings next week to rally MPs, finalize its nominee, and display unity before opposition challenges.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners are preparing for a high-profile display of unity in advance of the Vice-Presidential election scheduled for Sep 9. Sources have confirmed that next week will see a mega huddle of top leaders across the alliance.
All MPs from the NDA have been summoned for a Parliamentary Party meeting next Tuesday, coinciding with the resumption of the second phase of the Monsoon Session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the MPs in the Parliament auditorium.

On nomination day, a second mega gathering will include all Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Deputy Chief Ministers within the NDA. To emphasize collective strength, the BJP plans to prepare distinct sets of nomination papers, enlisting allies as proposers and supporters.
Ahead of these events, the BJP Parliamentary Board has scheduled a meeting on Sunday evening at the party headquarters. Chaired by Prime Minister Modi, it will include senior leaders such as JP Nadda, Amit Shah, and Rajnath Singh.
This meeting is expected to name the official NDA nominee for the Vice-Presidential contest.
Under a resolution passed on Aug 7, Prime Minister Modi and BJP President Nadda are already authorized to select the NDA candidate.
Despite the ruling alliance holding a clear numerical advantage—thanks in part to increased Rajya Sabha representation—the BJP is moving cautiously.
Strategic coordination aims to avoid past missteps like the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, whose abrupt departure underscored internal tensions.
