Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer north) Nidhin Valsan said enraged at the intervention by Ran Singh, accused Dhiraj hit him on his head with an iron rod leading to his death on the spot.

In a shocking incident, an elderly person lost his life while trying to stop a man from beating his wife in Delhi’s Mukundpur area.
The victim, Ran Singh (60) was a neighbor of the accused Dhiraj (42).

“On November 13, Dhiraj was beating his wife and cursing his neighbor Ran Singh. Singh objected to his abuses and went to the first floor to stop Dhiraj from beating his wife and solve their dispute,” Nidhin Valsan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) was quoted as saying.
However, enraged at the intervention by Singh, Dhiraj hit him on his head with an iron rod. The victim fell from the stairs of the first floor. He was rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Jahangirpuri where the doctors declared him dead upon arrival, according to the police officer.
The police said Singh’s nephew informed them about the assault. Investigation revealed that the accused, a private vehicle driver used to have regular fights with his wife and was physically assaulting her while being abusive towards her.
Police said a case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bhalswa Dairy Police Station, and the accused has been arrested.
