Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Ireland’s new Prime Minister Simon Harris for becoming country’s youngest to hold the position.
Modi said he looks forward to working with him to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
In a post on X, Modi said, “Congratulations @SimonHarrisTD on becoming youngest ever Prime Minister of Ireland. Highly value our historical ties that are based on shared belief in democratic values.”

“Looking forward to working together to further strengthen India-Ireland bilateral partnership,” Modi said.
Lawmaker Harris was elected Ireland's prime minister by a vote in parliament on Tuesday, becoming the country's youngest-ever leader at 37.
The 37-year-old former health and higher education minister, best widely known for helping steer Ireland’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, was elected unopposed as the new leader of the center-right Fine Gael party last month, days after Varadkar’s shock exit, reported Al Jazeera.
Harris succeeds Leo Varadkar who formed Ireland's three-party coalition government and had announced his resignation last month.
