NIA officers to appear as witnesses following violent incident during a raid in Bhupatinagar.

The NIA said its team was attacked in West Bengal's Bhupatinaga
The West Bengal Police has summoned two National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers in connection with an alleged attack on the NIA team during a recent operation in West Medinipur's Bhupatinagar. The officers, along with their injured colleague, are expected to provide testimony as part of the investigation.
The injured NIA officer has been requested to bring medical records and the allegedly vandalized car for forensic examination. The incident occurred during a raid aimed at apprehending suspects related to a 2022 West Medinipur blast case.

According to the NIA, their team encountered an unprovoked and violent assault by an unruly mob while conducting searches in Naruabila village, falling within the Bhupatinagar police station area. The searches were conducted at five locations in the presence of independent witnesses and under CRPF security, including lady constables.
Subsequently, a woman filed an FIR against the NIA team and CRPF officers, alleging assault and molestation. The complaint claimed that NIA officials forcibly entered homes late at night, leading to the registration of a case under relevant IPC sections.
Concurrently, the NIA has submitted a written complaint regarding the attack at the Bhupatinagar police station.
