In a show of political solidarity amid ceasefire negotiations, Netanyahu praised Trump’s role in the Abraham Accords and recent Middle East diplomacy.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize during a state dinner at the White House on July 7, handing over a formal letter and describing the nomination as “well deserved."
Netanyahu emphasized Trump’s pivotal role in mediating the Abraham Accords, which established diplomatic ties between Israel and several Arab nations.

He also lauded Trump’s recent efforts toward a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza and his strategic support during joint military strikes, including operations on Iranian nuclear sites.
Trump expressed gratitude for the gesture during the dinner, saying the nomination was “very meaningful."
He highlighted the potential for broader peace talks, including discussions with Iran, and reaffirmed ongoing US mediation in Doha facilitated by envoy Steve Witkoff.
The announcement coincided with sensitive negotiations, as both leaders addressed the 21-month-long conflict with Hamas and discussed terms for Palestinian governance and long-term security arrangements.
This nomination follows a previous recommendation from Pakistan and brings new attention to Trump's evolving foreign policy, particularly his unconventional but high-profile peace and security strategies across the Middle East .
It further underscores the geopolitical weight of the Nobel nomination amid ongoing diplomatic efforts.
