Delhi rolls out upgraded education portal with grievance and academic features

The Delhi government has overhauled the official website of its education department, introducing new digital features aimed at increasing transparency and strengthening academic support for students.

Among the additions is a dedicated Fee Review section that enables parents to submit complaints related to school fees, monitor the status of their grievances, and directly email the chairperson of the Fee Review Committee, according to details available on the portal.

The committee is headed by Justice Anil Dev Singh, former Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. Its members include chartered accountant J S Kochar and former additional director of education R K Sharma.

The website also provides background on a 2009 writ petition filed in the Delhi High Court by Delhi Abhibhavak Mahasangh. The petition challenged a decision permitting unaided private schools to raise fees to implement the Sixth Central Pay Commission recommendations.

In its August 12, 2011 ruling, the High Court ordered the formation of a three-member panel to scrutinize the accounts of unaided, privately recognized schools in Delhi to determine the justification for fee increases.

A subsequent notification stated that R K Sharma was nominated as the education expert on the committee by the chief secretary of the Government of NCT of Delhi.

The revamped portal now includes a daily attendance reporting system. All 1,086 government schools have been directed to upload data on students marked present, absent, or on leave each day.

Data published on Feb 23 showed that 1,004 schools had updated attendance figures. Of the total enrollment of 1,557,094 students, 418,249 were marked present, 256,604 absent, and 882,241 on leave.

The site also features a separate section hosting the Delhi School Education Act, 2025, along with its accompanying rules.

For students, the platform offers access to Common University Entrance Test question papers and mock tests across subjects. It also provides mental math question banks and newly developed workbooks for Classes 3 through 12, as per information available on the website.
