Navneet AI, IIT Gandhinagar sign landmark MoU to boost AI education in India

In a major education and technology initiative announced at the IndiaAI 2026 Summit in Delhi, Navneet Education and the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on strengthening Artificial Intelligence (AI) education across India’s schools.

The partnership aims to create a structured framework that blends academic expertise with classroom reach to promote AI literacy, teacher capacity building and student engagement.

The MoU outlines a five-pillar collaboration designed to make AI learning more practical, accessible and deeply rooted in fundamental understanding. Navneet AI, the education firm’s AI education arm, currently has a footprint in more than 500 schools and reaches over 2,000 teachers across 14 states.

The partnership with IIT Gandhinagar, one of India’s premier technology institutes, is expected to expand those efforts significantly by bringing academic rigour and hands-on programmes to the forefront of school AI education.

One of the core priorities under the MoU is uplifting teachers’ AI capability. Teachers will be offered virtual training sessions conducted by IITGN faculty and nominated subject experts.

These sessions are designed to simplify complex AI concepts, help educators build practical understanding and expose them to emerging career opportunities in the AI ecosystem.

Navneet will also author and publish AI educational content tailored for school curricula. Experts from IIT Gandhinagar will review and credential the pedagogy and academic accuracy of the content, ensuring students receive high-quality learning materials.

The partnership will also feature a dedicated IIT Gandhinagar Corner within Navneet’s resources, where academic insights and expert viewpoints will be highlighted.

Beyond teacher training, the MoU includes initiatives aimed directly at students. There will be annual virtual AI training programmes for students from Grades 3 to 10, delivered by IITGN students, giving young learners early exposure to foundational AI concepts and responsible innovation practices.

A key feature of the collaboration is the establishment of Navneet Product Labs for AI and automation. In these labs, IIT Gandhinagar students will be presented with real business problem statements provided by Navneet, offering hands-on experience in developing AI-based solutions under industry mentorship.

To further stimulate innovation and active participation, the partners will jointly organise a national-level AI hackathon for students. The event aims to transform students into AI creators and problem solvers, promoting a culture of experimentation and creative application of technology.

Mr. Harshil Gala, President of CBSE & EdTech at Navneet, said the MoU is a meaningful step towards making AI education structured, credible and practical for schools.

He emphasised that real transformation begins with empowering teachers, combining academic excellence with classroom reach to equip both teachers and students with a strong foundation in AI concepts.

Prof. Amit Prashant, Dean of External Relations at IIT Gandhinagar, stated that AI education must begin early and be anchored in strong fundamentals, reflecting the belief that responsible and informed future innovators are built through early engagement and quality instruction.
